De Texaanse singer-songwriter Will Johnson kennen we van South San Gabriel of als frontman van het vorige jaar helaas ter ziele gegane Centro-Matic, de felbejubelde country-rockband met een stevige Crazy Horse feel. Maar ook zijn intiemere solo-albums onder zijn eigen naam zijn niet te versmaden en te koesteren meesterwerkjes.

Will Johnson werkte in de afgelopen jaren samen met grote tijdgenoten als Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) en M.Ward, o.a. in de supergroep Monsters Of Folk. Om maar te zeggen dat hij tot het kransje van dé Amerikaanse singer-songwriters van het moment behoort. Zijn recentste vierde solo-album ‘Swan City Vampires’ bewijst dit nog maar eens. Traag, meeslepend en bovenal bloedmooi!
