"Is your muffin buttered? Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?" Een pertinente levensvraag waarover TikTok zich de afgelopen tijd buigde. De oorzaak? Dé lyric in indiehit 'Chaise Longue' van Wet Leg.
Die combinatie van TikTok en indie vat het duo uit Isle of Wight misschien wel perfect samen. Rhian Teasdale en Hester Chambers combineren heerlijk absurde, zelfbewuste en meta-lyrics over hun leven als twintigers. Verder hoor je in Wet Leg een duidelijke liefde voor The Ronettes, Jane Birkin, Ty Segall en Björk.
BBC bekroonde Wet Leg tot hun Sound of 2022, en in ons land staat ook Studio Brussel op de eerste rij. En dan was er dat gelijknamige debuutalbum waarbij de recensenten over elkaar struikelden bij het werpen van lofkransen. Let op onze woorden: de wereld is weldra te klein voor Wet Leg.
Coach Party
Coach Party maakt muziek over “the often entertaining struggle of real life.” De band haalt muzikale inspiratie uit vele hoeken maar somt vooral Nirvana, Sonic Youth en The Strokes, en hedendaagse collega's zoals Wolf Alice, The Big Moon en Tame Impala als voorbeelden op. Hun langverwachte debuutalbum "Killjoy" komt uit op 8 september.
