Youth Lagoon
Youth Lagoon is back with a new album! Two years after his last release, Heaven Is a Junkyard, Youth Lagoon – the alter ego of Idaho-based producer and songwriter Trevor Powers – presents Rarely Do I Dream. It’s his most versatile and daring record yet, featuring twangy fuzz guitars, sun-drenched synths, classical pianos, blown-out drums, and, of course, Powers' intriguing melodies. Everything feels like an old photograph brought to life in a strange and distant future.
In the fall of 2023, Powers discovered a box of home videos in his parents’ basement, filled with childhood memories that he began weaving into his music. Sampling audio fragments, he crafted a musical cinematography that blends past and future. Rarely Do I Dream is a nostalgic and immersive album, rooted in love and childhood recollections, where innocence meets darker tales. With a mix of electronic sounds and hallucinatory rock, Powers' singular voice remains the guiding light home.
