Jazz Sanusi

If Jazz Sanusi’s energy doesn’t blow you away her voice surely will. The Belgian-Nigerian artist dishes out a delicious R&B sound. Her tunes float in the spaces between Jazz, Blues, Disco, Soul and HipHop. The Trix Artist in Residence presents us her EP Tender Toughness. farfar

Farfar is a Mediterranean Fusion band from Antwerp. Their unique style, influenced by Spanish Grooves and North African melodies, makes Farfar's concerts a musical adventure that incites daydreaming one moment, but turns into one big dance party in no time! They sold out AMOR (De Roma) twice before the release of their debut album on November 18 and 22. After this they also played in De Centrale, 't Ey and TRIX, among others.

Their first album 'Calima' was released on streaming platforms on November 23. Calima is a wind that carries Sahara sand to the European mainland, a metaphor for the musical influences from around the Mediterranean that give color to farfar's music. Olav Grondelaers already presented farfar on his program 'Music Matters' on Klara and Michaël Robberechts interviewed them about their debut in 'Time Out' on Radio 1.

King Richie

Richmond Banahene alias Richie is a rapper from Turnhout. In 2008, he started rapping with the group GSD to honor a deceased friend.

From 2012, the group became more successful by winning one of the qualifying rounds of Kunstbende, among other things. This gave them more stage opportunities and they were also able to play supporting acts for names such as Gers Pardoel, Mr. Polska and Boef.

In 2014, Richie even decided to quit music to continue his studies. After 3 years Richie made the choice to make music again with GSD. The group released the EP 'Wait For Us' and received high praise from Brahim, Safi and others.

In 2020, after participating in Humo's Rockrally with GSD, Richie felt he was looking for a new sound. A sound and message that talks more about the struggles he has in life. He tries to find this sound in Antwerp, where he has lived since 2020.

Imaginary Sister

Antwerp indie folk duo Imaginary Sister creates silhouettes of songs with minimalist arrangements and a softly rustling voice.

“Everything could just as well have been different, and that which is is therefore no more important than that which is not”.

Kathy Vanhout and Vik Hardy wrote and recorded their debut album in a falling apart apartment on the Antwerp Leien, between dusty books, plants and creaking floors. With microphones aimed at peeling walls, the character of the space is an indispensable reality on the album.

The title of the album "We became quite good at hesitating" refers to the years of working together, hesitating, scrapping and starting over from the duo that decided after 8 years to embrace pure and raw creativity. The result is a collection of sketchy short stories, sung in whispers by a voice that is at times reminiscent of Hope Sandoval or Jane Birkin.
