Pile
Pile saw light near the end of the the two-thousands as the soloproject of Rick Maguire. They quickly grew to become Boston DIY-scene’s sweetheart. Up for grabs for inspiration: post hardcore, indie, slowcore, noise and even a whiff of dark folk. Their latest new record shows them pulling even more references. From strings to threatening synths “All fiction”, the band’s eight record, is another showcase of Pile’s unique sound.
No Prisoners
NO PRISONERS is the brand new band around Pieter-Paul Devos (Raketkanon, Kapitan Korsakov) and other beautiful people. For example, Harry Descamps (WHORSES) plays guitar, Leander van het Groenewoud (aka. Alex Verdi) plays bass and Pieter De Wilde (Raketkanon) plays drums. Pieter-Paul Devos introduces his new band NO PRISONERS as “less Sgt. Pepper and more Revolver.” The new formation of the man behind Kapitan Korsakov and Raketkanon rings out some pristine garage rock. The band explores just about every nook and cranny of the genre and seek inspiration in other’s. Whether by putting surf rock on steroids with breakneck punk anthem or by rubbing shoulders with Eels or The Beatles. With NO PRISONERS Devos comes closer to sincerity than ever before in his career. Over the honest instrumentals and crafty hooks, the band’s music paints an earnest picture of our daily struggles in a digitised society.
