Joker Out
Joker Out is the first young band to gain nationwide popularity in Slovenia in the last decade. Since their formation in 2016, they have brought about the revival of the live music scene, which has once again gained mass interest among the youth and sparked a new wave of young artists. The band consists of five members: Bojan Cvjetićanin (vocals), Kris Guštin (guitar), Jan Peteh (guitar), Nace Jordan (bass) and Jure Maček (drums), who are all still in their twenties, the youngest being 23. Most of the band members met in primary school, where they attended the school band to compose and record the official school anthem. This made them realize they love creating their own original music, and especially creating it together. The wide range of the band members’ characters – from methodically astute to blissfully spontaneous – lead them to develop a unique sound, which came to be known as Shagadelic Rock n’ Roll. In the following years, this energetic but seductive brand of softboi rock took the nation by storm. With the lead singles of the band’s critically acclaimed debut studio album – Umazane Misli (Indecent notions), they took over the radio and streaming charts as well as all major concert stages across the country. Their highly attended shows are filled with explosive grooves and catchy melodies, which fans passionately sing along to. This has brought them two consecutive Artist of the Year Awards in 2021 and 2022, a Song of the Year Award in 2021, and they even became the Bestselling Artist of 2022. Regardless of all the accolades and attention, they’ve stayed grounded and always take time for their fans. With the creativity just oozing out of the band, even their non-stop touring in 2022 couldn’t stop them from writing and recording their second studio album - Demoni (Demons), which was released along with a sensational sold-out concert in the nation’s most iconic concert venue – Križanke amphitheatre. This further solidified their position as the leaders of the Slovenian New Wave as well as it laid the ground for their international ambitions with two songs in Serbian, the singer’s mother tongue. Always searching for the next level, Joker Out have already announced a concert in Slovenia’s largest arena and are set to become the youngest of a handful of artists to sell it out. After the National television decided to choose them as their representatives for ESC 2023 in December of 2022 that only confirmed their ambition to pursue international recognition, their song for ESC 2023 - Carpe Diem (seize the day) was performed in Slovenian, because they wanted to prove their native tongue belongs among the great European languages. The song’s message is simple – whatever life throws at you, music and dance are always the right answer.
