In May 2022, Nandi Rose was in Wyoming at an artist residency, seeking answers after a tough winter in New York where she lost a family member and recovered from her own medical issues. This inspired her EP Ephemeral Being, which celebrates the transience of life and the continuity of nature.

The EP features five songs, including “Heartwood,” where she compares herself to an ancient oak tree, and “Dreaming of Bears,” where she imagines a loved one’s smile enduring as the curve of a river bend. The single “Big Dipper” explores the loss of faith in the universe.

Charlotte Jacobs is a Belgian singer, composer, and producer who creates jazzy avant-pop.
