Since 2008, Fresku has been a cornerstone of the Dutch rap scene. He made his breakthrough by sharing raw emotions and societal themes, drawing from both his personal experiences and his surroundings. He doesn’t hide his fears, doubts, or the love he has to give. He held a mirror up to Hilversum and raised his voice during times of polarization. Yet all these moments were just small steps in a larger process: learning, living, and learning to live.

“If I had understood back then what I know now, I would have written Kees a very different letter,” Fresku reflects in the opening track of his new EP. This record, the Leren Leven EP, serves as the first installment of the upcoming album of the same name. He looks back on how he first caught the attention of the country’s most prominent record executive. His conclusion: “I need to stand clear in the present and be more conscious.” Fresku can’t wait to reconnect with his audience!
