The Field swe
Multiple artists have released music under the name of The Field, the most widely known being Swedish minimal techno producer Axel Willner. Others include a British rock band and a Norwegian pop/jazz band. 1. Stockholm, Sweden The Field (real name Axel Willner) has released four full-length albums on Kompakt since 2005, in addition to a handful of EPs, 12-inches, and remixes for many other artists. His unique blend of mesmerizing ambience and propulsive techno incorporates microsamples of pop songs from artists like The Four Tops, Lionel Richie, and Kate Bush. 2. Sheffield, England The Field is "four boys, born and bred in the City of Steel, with a passion for music and a desire to perform," comprised of Adam (vocals), Russ (bass), Alex (guitar), and Benji (drums). 3. Baerum, Oslo, Norway The Field is a Norwegian pop/jazz band consisting of Carl Frederik Kontny (guitar), Sigrid Z. Gundersen (vocals), and Jakob E. Myhre (piano), "three good friends who share the same idea of what music is all about." Read more on Last.fm. Weval
Weval's name is derived from the Dutch word 'waterval', unsurprisingly translated as 'waterfall', and it's not too bad an attempt to sum up their work in mere semantics given the susurrus vibe of their sound; well perhaps if said waterall was made of rich, flowing treacle. Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte are the brains behind the project who met whilst working in the film industry in 2010, and the young Dutch producers here have successfully crafted a sedated, deep sound that maybe one day the kids will label as heroin-step or something. Avondlicht b
Avondlicht is the brainchild of Antwerpian electronic musician and producer Matthias Dziwak. His ever emotive sound - dark and broken, yet soothing - floats within a wide spectrum of musical genres, ranging from breaks-influenced dance music and contemporary classical to post-rock, ambient and experimental electronica. His releases have been well received and invariably followed by a string of live performances, which have - since the release of his 2020 debut album Hyperromance - been shifting towards an immersive audiovisual experience in collaboration with Tulpa Collective.
Hiele b
SKY H1
Belgian producer SKY H1 is the latest addition to Brussels' vibrant electronic music scene and much like the patchwork city she calls home her music is the result of myriad influences and cultures colliding. Having released an EP on the Berlin label Creamcake in 2015 and working alongside producers such as Bala Club's Uli K, SKY H1's music draws upon everything from R&B and instrumental grime to ambient, to produce something both brutal and sublime in equal measure.
