The 27 year old Yuno has a lack of concern for genre. His single ‘No Going Back’, which got the title of ‘Best New Track’ on Pitchfork, sounds like a new old Tame Impala song meets the r&b vibes of Frank Ocean. Or “Why For”, which reminds us of Wavves’ attitude and Sleigh Bells.
His diversity can be explained as a result of being part of his local skateboarding subculture, while also growing up with Jamaican parents who played reggae, ska and classic r&b at the house. Go figure…
Fun facts: Yuno only saw 4 live shows in his live. He also creates all of his music alone. And he got signed on Sub Pop for his first record.
